This works really well when someone walks up to my desk and I greet them with that phrase. I think I almost got a few.

When I am making a personal call, I always either say 'Hi, this is $radiowave, is $person_I_am_calling_for there?' or "Hi, $person_I_am_calling, this is $radiowave...'

For business, it is usually 'Hi. This is $radiowave from $company...'

Phone etiquette is not dead, but I think it is on life support, and the family is thinking about pulling the plug.
