No Wonder they're loosing the war on Drugs by Hieraco2009-04-02 01:25:36
Kinda makes you wonder... by firehawk 2009-04-02 02:01:06
...if they're paying this little attention to the actual problem, and just throwing drugs at symptoms this badly, how many other legitimate problems in our society are we creating and then ignoring?

Frankly, I have to wonder if half the cases of ADD, ADHD, and some types of Autism during the explosion of cases in the last few decades haven't been caused by children not being stimulated properly during the first 3 years of life, combined with overprescription of drugs at the drop of a hat (both for the mothers prenatally and the children after they're born).

Obviously, that doesn't make them any less legitimate of a problem, but it makes me want to smack friends of mine who park their children in front of a DVD so they can go play for a couple hours, only to come back and change DVDs and do it all over again, and call that "raising a child". Or the ones who only handle their baby at feeding and changing times, wondering why they grow up to have no connection to either parent.
