1) If it has been there for more than a couple of minutes, you are probably too late 2) Check the other boxes to see if they are compromised, physical access to your network should not be your last line of defence, if integrity of any node is compromised then turn off the switch and slowly go through all the nodes cataloging damage 3) If everything is OK so far then track down the relevant owner, if no owner can be found then claim the device for "other purposes" (it doesn't take much to reset the password / configuration of consumer hardware - who knows you may need one of these...) 4) If owner is found then read them the riot act on computer security.
