All but one of them was a rather twitchy, nervous, screams for no apparent reason, animal.
The one that WASN'T, turned out to be blind.
They love quiet, calm, darkish places they can hide from predators.
A warm lamp on one side of the cage, a water recycling fountain, & a constant fresh supply of food in their dish, and they'll be nice and happy as long as YOU are just as quiet, calm, & sedate.
The minute things get noisy, antsy, or they even THINK they sniff danger, the screaming/squeaking starts and they. will. not. shut. up. until they think it's safe...
Sitting in your lap or on your shoulder tends to happen after MONTHS of growing accustomed to you & feeling that you are "safe" to be around.
It may take weeks just for one to accept you trying to pet it.
