| Uficle: indoor cat to outdoor? |

Hi all....so the sad news is that I have 7 days to remove my two cats from my new house. My new landlord has denied me permission to keep them. I'm currently working on options... I'm hoping to find mid-term foster care for Beau, as I expect that in a year I will be in a position to take him back. I would prefer to re-home Ceilidh permanently as she is older and would probably be happier with a bigger/more social home than I provide.
Anyway.
One of my options revolves around turning Beau into an indoor/outdoor kitty. He's a year old and has been indoor only since he was rescued as a kitten. My parents have a cat door installed (from their last cat, now deceased) and will consider keeping Beau until I can take him back, IF they don't have to deal with kitty litter. I really don't want to do this, because I far prefer keeping cats inside only (safer for them and for the wildlife) but my options are slim :(
Will this be fairly straight forward? How do we approach it? Allow him outside supervised a few times, while still keeping a litter tray inside, and then once he is getting the hang of the outdoors, remove the litter tray?
Or am I kidding myself? |

I wouldn't think it would be that difficult. | by quilting_kitty | 2009-03-31 16:06:34 |
