The Windows update to fix the vulnerability it uses was released in October 2008. Conficker itself didn't even show up until November 2008. So computers that are updated regularly or have automatic updates enabled are fine.

About the only thing to be concerned about is that infected computers may be used as a bot net at some point in the future, and could be used for sending spam or DDOSing, which would still be an annoyance to the rest of the internet. But there are plenty of annoying botnets already out there anyway...
