to a hobby or spare-time pursuit. It could be, as you note, a vocation. I don't feel that ethics is simply the question of "what not to do ... [and] what one should do to help others." Ethics is simply the study of what it means to live the good life - the study of how one ought to live, and why; the study of how to make decisions, and what principles to live and decide by.
