No no, a thousand times no. Gov't to set salaries by merlin2009-03-31 08:01:52

In some cases on those bonuses in question, by merlin 2009-03-31 09:52:08
I would even say they were ethical.

Here is a fact that I was not aware of until I read the full text now infamous resignation letter in the paper this weekend. This particular individual, that worked in AIG FP, agree to stay on with the company to unwind his particular portfolio while working for an annual salary of $1. That's right, not even enough to buy a cheeseburger at McDonald's. According to his letter, he and several others turned down multiple offers from other companies BECAUSE OF the retention bonuses they were promised.

Essentially, those bonuses were going to be the sum total of their compensation for that period of time.

So, give me a break about how they didn't deserve those payments. They worked their keisters off selling divisions to UBS and other financial firms to try and save AIG.
