| I see that the Authorities once again warn that they cannot have people "taking the law into their own hands." In my fairly long and reasonably broad experience, things go from good to bad, and bad to worse, when people *allow the law to be taken FROM their hands*. The law is only safe when it is in the hands and at the feet of every citizen; when enforcement is either subrogated to an absentee force or ignored because "it's not my place", enforcement ceases. Citizens must involve themselves in enforcement, both in deciding when it is NOT appropriate as well as ensuring that it occurs when it should, or enforcement effectively will not happen. |
