after watching 'Serenity'. It becoming apparent at long last that Whedon has a problem with writing couples and solves this at all turns by murdering (or severely F4ing over) one half of them at some point either before or after a relationship rears its head.

Buffy & Angel (about a bajillion times!)
Buffy & Spike
Willow & Oz
Willow & Tara
Xander & Anja (on the wedding day AND in the finale)
Fred & Wesley (That was F4ing traumatising to watch!)
Angel & Cordelia
Zoe & Wash

Every time someone says they want another Serenity movie or Firefly to be picked up I remind them that this would mean that at some point either Kayly or Simon would have to die, and my money is on Kayly because Joss loves ripping out the hearts of the viewing audience en-masse with the surprise harpoon just to keep things 'fresh'.

Otherwise I think Joss can be quite talented, but just like George Lucas he is the sort of creative talent who should get the ball rolling but not be left in charge of it unsupervised.
