The bailouts aren't a situation in and of itself. They are a reaction to the economic woes, which were cause by doing the "easy" thing, which was not regulating financial systems and instruments carefully and prudently. It was politically "easier" to just let everything kinda manage itself. "How they got into that" is exactly what I was talking about.

The "war on drugs" was caused by not wanting to address the desire, chemistry, marketing, and every other aspect of what was perceived to be a drug "problem". The "easy" thing is to decry it for years and years and years, increase penalties, and then dump a load of cops on it when it's near "epidemic" proportions.

Everybody has relied on government way too much because they don't understand it, don't want to talk about it, and don't want to participate in it to make it smaller, smoother, and more efficient. Everybody just wants to take care of their "own", without realizing that we're all part of a bigger society.

Don't wanna fill out forms? Become part of the system and get rid of the forms. Even if that means getting in as part of Congress.
