The BBC becomes a media circus when a pair of overpaid idiots make prank phonecalls to an elderly actor on a radio show. If *anything* like the two phrases you mentioned was ever used on national (or international as you seem to be suggesting) TV - you can be sure it would attract massive attention.

Regardless of any perceived slight you can attribute to any foreign news agency - the segment in question *was wrong*. When the best defense for it that you can muster is "they did it too" then you're admitting that it was wrong then trying to justify it by saying other people do bad things as well.

In this case, you've failed to point the finger convincingly at anyone else either.
