But seeing how many people are using Firefox, or other non-M$ browsers, as long as we ensure it is free, and can be easily changed to something else, at least there will be choice. And it won't unfairly enrich scum. Err - legal scum, that is.

USDOJ had an opportunity to disassociate Windows from Microsoft applications, way back when. They would have done the entire world a huge favour if they had taken that chance. Instead, they wimped out and let M$ continue forcing their practical monopoly on desktop O/S into a huge advantage in pushing their bloatware on everybody. If that opportunity had been taken, then the choice of anti-virus software could be untinged by ulterior motives.
