Well, today was the first day of my new career by tully 2009-02-10 20:46:40
as a very part time baker. Went down to the restaurant and with lots of help managed to find everything and make the first batch of 4 king cakes. The restaurant was open and the kitchen was busy, so other than the actual baking, all my work was in the "party room" adjacent to the main dining room. Had several curious patron looking in on me and asking questions. A young man from Mobile, Alabama and his local girl friend who had never seen a king cake were the last. They came in as I was icing the cakes. They went to the chef and talked him into selling them one of the cakes (for $35 US) that were supposed to be for his "free slice of king cake with your meal" promotion to celebrate the first anniversary of his opening the restaurant/Valentines day/Mardi Gras. So, I'm rather pleased with my day. I may have to consider partitioning off a corner of my garage and make it into a kitchen/bakery. Now it's off to bed for me.

Oh, here's a couple of photos.
