The environment is hot and stressful.
If the chefs take a dislike to you, and they usually do, the food comes out slow, so your guests get p4d off and start complaining.
The hours make it impossible to have a life, and usually involve late nights and early mornings, usually this then requires you nap between shifts
This is the normal waitresses load of stress.
Then factor in that these days the standards to which you are trained are no longer being maintained. So everything you do is to a looser standard that you are trained to and thus feels wrong constantly. (EG no matching plates in one hotel i worked in, no plate stacking rings in another meaning on large tables you need to either make multiple trips, or need help from other as buzy as you waitresses). Wrong is a stressful and uncomfortable feeling and it nags too.
You have a disorder which means you can't read peoples body language very well, so you have no warning as to which customer is the sort who must be flattered constantly, and which is the easy going will take a bit of a mistake as long as you obviously try.
Also the fact that when stressed you might not have as close a watch on how you phrase things, meaning you can accidentally insult someone, and especially a manager giving you a hard time about the latest complaint. |
