Good evening, everybody. Please be seated. Before I take your questions tonight, I'd like to speak briefly about the **state of our economy and why I believe we need to put this recovery plan in motion as soon as possible**

• this recovery plan refers to the stimulus package
• the focus of the press-conference was the stimulus package
• Geithner's press conference is for two specific things: foreclosure relief, and TERP/bank bailout
• foreclosure relief and TERP/bank bailout are not part of the stimulus package, and there are no plans at this time to ask Congress for money for these two things - presumably it will be the remainder of the TERP money and regulatory/administrative actions which will address these
• mixing the stimulus package and the two above topics is a misdirection tactic, intended to stall the debate about the stimulus bill with the hopes that the sentiment "stop bailing out the banks and irresponsible homeowners with our tax dollars" will cause the bill to fail the senate.
