Electronic UFies: HALP! by shargo 2009-02-10 12:13:15
So I opened up my stereo amplifier to do a modification I had planned (changing how the EQ is connected but that's another story) about the first I noted was that both main capacitors had started to leak. Since this is a rather good Yamaha amp and I'm on a "limited budget" I don't want to replace it.
And if I can change capacitors on a motherboard changing two larger ones in an amp shouldn't be to hard. But for one thing: What capacitors to get...

Pics if that can be of use. The white card is a standard SD.

These are part of the power supply (Yamaha have been kind and clearly marked the separate parts on the circuit-board) and are marked as follows:

  B
A C [ all these are in small circles
  - and a larger circle around them all ]

 A BLANK

 B 63V 1000µF(M)

 C BLANK

On top of them: 1DIAH

Have I got these things right?
The ABC- indicate that the current cap's have four legs but only two have function/connectivity.
The extra two legs are not necessary.
On the new cap the positive leg is shorter.

Questions
What type of cap should I get preferably?
How can I identify which leg is which on the broken ones?
Would this likely be a good replacement:
ESR:
Förlustfaktor: 0.1 @ 120 Hz (loss factor?)
Impedans: 0.042 Ω @ 100 kHz
Kapacitans: 1000 µF
Märkspänning: 63 V dc (Marked voltage)
Delning: 7.5 mm (separation (of the legs?))
Max rippelström: 1.75 A @ 100 kHz 105°C (max ripple current?)
Tolerans: ±20 %
Anything else this electronic amateur have missed? I know I haven't measured the spacing between the legs but is a bit tricky to get the circuit board out.
The local electronics shop is a bit of a lottery, some staff can surely help me pick a good replacment others...

As long as you can identify the + and - legs, you by kc5sdy2009-02-10 12:24:08

    Correct, 10000µF it was. (n/t) by shargo2009-02-10 13:37:21
