  Of all the examples given, only the last one by vdp 2009-02-10 11:47:50
(TARP) resembles the current situation. In the rest there were no public debates, no TV appearances, no congress-people and senators blogging... And, for some reason, the most blatant example of them all, the passing of the PATRIOT act, is not listed.

As to whether the urgency is real, it seems to me that the vast majority of economists (including colleagues of the author from the Reagen administration) agree that it is.
