Influence in congress yes, control, no by Classic_Jon 2009-02-10 11:05:36
unless they have a 2/3 majority and *everyone* votes along party lines. What has been left out of much of the news or downplayed is that there were quite a few Democrats in the house that voted against the bailout bill there. As for the second part of what you are saying, it is easer to play the blame game than to actually do something.

I would *HOPE* that people would vote for the best thing for the US regardless of party politics. I see this less of a party issue and more of a "are we doing the right thing and making sure that what passes will work properly and with proper govt oversight?" than anything else.

IMO if they are not going to take the time to put in milestones and make sure the money is used properly then we are just throwing good money after bad. I am also *VERY* pesonally concerend as to WHEN and WHO is going to pay back the potentially 1 TRILLION dollars that the govt is *BORROWING* against the future of the U.S. from the taxpayers! This money is NOT free and has to come from somewhere....where is that somewhere and how is it going to be paid back and more importantly *WHEN*.
