WinXP swap file question / problem. by AndyA2009-02-10 09:43:50
One thing I did with regards to the swap file is by Snate 2009-02-10 09:55:13
place it in it's own partition preferably on a drive other than the system drive.

I have 2 GB of RAM and using Partition Magic I created a 4 GB partition on my secondary hard drive. I then changed the swap file settings for Windows to use only that partition for a swap file and I manually set the size to 2 GB minimum and 4GB maximum.

Even though a swap file still exists I found this helped performance a great deal because I no longer had to worry about fragmentation.
