The number of tickets for one town hall meeting was reduced from 1500 to 600 because it's a town hall meeting, "not a big rally." Incidentally, the hall itself can hold up to 3200 people. Yes, we wouldn't want a large number of citizens to talk to the president about his important plan. I guess listening to all those people runs the risk of him changing his mind.
