| Anyone here play "Brickbreaker" on the BB phone? |

I got my Blackberry awhile back and have been drawn into a half-a3d addiction to the Brickbreaker game that comes on it.
The problem is that the game is programmed badly.
<pet peeve rant>
As a programmer, I hate to see cheap coding cheats applied anywhere, but I absolutely *despise* game programmers who cheat their own rules to make the game harder (as opposed to simply *programming* the game to be harder).
I detest how Blizzard programmed Diablo to make the player weaker as you move up to tougher levels while making the monsters, effectively, unkillable. I loathe how MS made its Hearts game (and almost any of its card games) cheat the deals so that the cards play out in the prescribed fashion. And I despise how Plazmic made its Brickbreaker game cheat its angles, speed, curve, etc. of the bouncing ball so that it moves in directions that allow it to, pretty much, dump the ball (and your lives) as it sees fit.
None of that makes the game "tougher" and more entertaining...it just makes it stupid.

Add to that the fact that Brickbreaker doesn't even work properly. It's particularly frustrating to watch the ball pass through solid objects to fall into a spot where your paddle doesn't reside. Even more so to watch the ball pass through the paddle itself or to have the paddle arbitrarily bounce off the side wall or twitch away from the ball because the games trackball sensitivity is poorly applied.
I need to find a new game for my Blackberry so I can completely quit Brickbreaker, but I haven't found one that I particularly like yet. Any ideas? |
