I don't so much mind being blamed... by SnappingTurtle2009-02-03 16:25:58
I used to get blamed for many problems at a by SaylorA 2009-02-03 23:14:44
previous job. I was the shipping manager and system tech. So basically I would put client systems together on my bench, test them, and then ship them out. I was normally given the shipping order and MANY times these orders would be for square pegs and round holes which I knew would never work, so I would go find the specs and put together the "correct" system.

The problem was frequently I would get orders for square pegs and holes when in fact they needed round pegs and holes. I had no way of knowing that the wrong system had been written up by the sales staff, but I would get blamed for delivering the wrong configuration. Because of the situation I kept a CMA record of everything I ever sent out which saved my butt time and time again, but upper management never realized the uncountable times I saved the company's A3. At least not until they decided to lay me off. I heard from friends still at the company that over next several months almost every install went wrong.

I was told that some managers wanted me the company to hire me back but that the division accountant was dead set against it. Even though he was the one that pushed for my layoff, it didn't make since that he was so against rehiring me. At least until much later when I heard he was fired for "irregularities" in the books. You see I was in charge of inventory tracking and every month I did a full inventory and it NEVER came close to what was indicated in the computer system. I now wonder if he was worried that I could have been a problem for his "designs".
