It might be the burger, too. by werehatrack 2009-02-03 19:27:57
They might use seasoning or enhancement additives in the meat patties*, and there also could be stuff in the bun that's problematic. I have to avoid a lot of stuff at fast food joints now because of the fact that canola oil is in much more widespread use than previously. It's in lots of burger buns, for one thing. (Yes, the quantities in that are small, but apparently they're enough to make me wish I hadn't eaten it.)

And don't discount the fries themselves; if they're fried in something that disagrees with your gut, it won't matter about the seasoning.

Most people have a headache (often severe) as a reaction to MSG.

BTW, a friend who was recently diagnosed with diabetes had a problem with a blood sugar spike after eating a steak and a small salad (and nothing else; he drank *water*) at a Golden Corral this past week. That should not have happened; neither the steak nor the salad (with just oil and vinegar as dressing) should have been able to cause that reaction. We suspect that there's something used as an additive or seasoning in the meat which brought on the problem, but he hasn't found out what it might be so far.)

* Even when a supplier says that a meat patty contains 100% US Beef or 100% Ground Sirloin (or whatever) with no fillers, they might not be telling you that there are non-meat, non-filler additives to enhance flavor, texture, and/or (most importantly) profit.
