I wouldnt be as confrontational as everyone else in here, certainly, I can see if either of the elder .brits tried that one it would be from a feeling of panic and out of control-ness and maybe hating hearing stuff about sibling second-hand.
what I would do is say to him "look, I am as worried about Lisa as you, and you've got enough on your plate without having to keep me updated all the time. Therefore I am going to call at <set time each day> and ask after her. You can call before this, make decisions as to her care, if anyone asks me what they should do, i'll refer them to you, unless its something that needs a decision now or she'll die -like 'should we intubate'. I think you can see it's a reasonable compromise." |
