The story so far:
The electric trunk latch on my car broke.
Actually, just the spring which operates the latch broke. I could get the latch to lock, but it would pop open on a hard jolt. Not exactly secure.
But saying parts for this car are rare is like saying Illiad's drawn a cartoon or two. And Nissan wanted $80 for a new one!!
None in junk yards, either. But there were some older 240SX's, with manual latches. I checked a couple, and found one that was an exact match mechanically for 9 dollars. I brought it home, opened it up and replaced just the broken spring on my latch.
