| A disability is a far cry from a self-centred emotional need. Having said that, it goes a long way if you help the listener understand your need to repeat. Imagine if I had an imaginary (but illustrative) disability that, say, causes me to repeat every noun you use in a sentence before I can reply to you. If you didn't know I had a disability that caused that, you'd at first wonder what drugs I was on, then you'd begin to wonder if I was mocking you. And then you'd get irritated, understandably.
Now say I did the above but not due to a disability, I did it just because it gave me attention and I craved said attention. You might want to smack me. :) |
