If your water pipes are not already frozen solid....
then turn off the valve for your main water supply.

Next, go to your basement (or lowest part of the house)
and turn ON all faucets (hot & cold) to drain water out
of pipes. ( so freezing water can't expand & burst pipes )

Finally, get a bucket and drain out your hot water heater.
( It's soon to be a great big ice cube anyway - right? )

On the other hand... I know you've been dealing with industrial
safety, chem+physics subjects, and Arctic temperatures for quite
a while longer than I have; so you probably thought of this already.
