AMD chips, just like Intel chips, follow the "i386" architecture, with notable additions, but both can perfectly function under i386 compatible code. I think in this case its the fact that you are running Linux.

I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate on an AMD64 architecture (fooey on all the naysayers - it works great for me :-) and I have the newest Flash player running just fine. Perhaps they are behind in coding a version that supports Linux, or supports your browser.
