I take it we are talking laptop rather than desktop?

So the CPU and video card could be soldered on. Maybe some of the memory too, I have seen that in the past.
Normally things like wireless are plug in modules.

So maybe $500 for the parts if it was a high end board but that would be retail not internal price. And then laptops are a lot harder to take apart and put back together than a desktop, so maybe $500 for the labor to swap it out and then fully test the system.

I'm still not sure how they could get the price that high.
