Give you an example of myself. by Classic_Jon 2009-02-03 13:40:08
When I was 23, the federal govt IRS computer made a mistake and said I had not filed or paid taxes in 5 years.

The first thing they did was freeze my bank account. *then* they sent me a registered letter and requested that I come down to the local IRS office. They agreed that they would unfreeze my account pending the investigation based on the tax documants I brought with me... 6 months later...I got a Oops! here is you $150.00 return... no explanation as to what happened or why...

Why did they not react the same way here? Why was it not caught before? Will They be held accountable *IF* they did it knowingly. Will they have a more indepth investigation done to see if there are MORE issues? Will they investigate the people that filed the original information to see if they did so intentionally? My other questions revolve around where the media is in all of this. Why are they not circling like vultures? This is *news* isn't it?

Fair is only fair, and I hope they dig further into what the *cause* of the problems were than "oh, nm...he paid his fines..."
