Interesting op-ed from Daniel Pearl's father by jdelphiki2009-02-03 06:11:57
  I find this part telling: by kelli217 2009-02-03 07:40:25
Those around the world who mourned for Danny in 2002 genuinely hoped that Danny's murder would be a turning point in the history of man's inhumanity to man, and that the targeting of innocents to transmit political messages would quickly become, like slavery and human sacrifice, an embarrassing relic of a bygone era.

What the heck ever gave them THAT idea?!? Slavery and human sacrifice are STILL practiced. The only thing that has changed is that now they're practiced more covertly. Why would anyone think that the murder of one reporter would change the world, when nailing some guy to a stick hasn't appreciably changed the world. Buddha Siddhartha hasn't changed the world. That's because human nature is so powerful a force that it can bend and warp any peace-loving ideology to conform to war-loving human beings. And then when you mix in the two most draconian religions in the world, that BOTH subject their followers to extremely strict codes of behavior and advocate the extermination of all opposition, and that BOTH teach their followers that they are the chosen people and exalted above all others -- religions that pay only the smallest amount of lip service to any ideal of peace -- when you mix these religions together in an area where it's very hot, and there's no water...

Quite frankly, who the f4 are they kidding?!?
