Credit card fraud... by Bastetsmuse2009-01-29 20:27:21
I just cancelled my AmEx this morning... by Twitchh 2009-01-29 21:04:25
Two small (less than $150.00 US each) bogus charges from two different travel agencies in India in a week.

I'm not from India, I'm not going to India, I don't do business with India, I don't know anyone in India, I haven't ordered anything from India, etc.

Called AmEx this morning, gave them both the details on the bogus charges and the keys to the orbital LART. Changed all my security information and shredded the physical card. New card should be here soon.

The Fraud agent I spoke with was pretty sure someone I've done business with over the internet stole my info or was hacked, but she also pointed out that they're recommending everyone be more vigilant with how they handle their credit cards in public. The latest fun new trick is to use one's cell phone camera to get a photo of the card as it's used. Depending on the card, that gets you both the card number *and* the CCV number, with which you can "prove" you physically "have" the card for a phone or internet sale.

Are we having fun yet?
