an old friend used to have a Super Bowl Commercials Party, in which the sound was turned off unless they were breaking for a commercial, and the game itself was pointedly ignored in favor of several other activities. It was fairly popular.

I haven't watched even a significant fraction of any Stupor Bowl game in over 30 years now. The last one I watched end-to-end was 1973, and the last one of which I saw more than two minutes was probably around 1985.
