Further checking shows that the "high oleic vegetable oil" currently showing up in some food labeling is not rapeseed, but an oil derived from a GM soybean patented by DuPont. They're quite cagey about the way they describe the strain they've developed; you have to get fairly deep into the publicly-accessible information before they admit that it's from a GMO. They claim that it's been rigorously tested, and I am slightly more willing to accept the representations of DuPont than Monsanto, but I'm still adding that stuff to my no-buy list. I'll let the other six billion test animals try it first...for a decade or two.
