Capital gains are treated as income, so to figure out your total income tax, this formula's pretty handy: (total work income * 7,8%) + ((total work income + total capital gains - ~$10k CAD) * 28%) = total tax owed. That's pretty close to how you calculate Norwegian income tax. There's a few more details, but that's about it.
