  If your doing it in .NET 2.0+ then use a nullable by sazzer 2009-01-29 04:54:06
type. That's what they are there for after all - to store a basic value in a variable that might or might not be valid. If you go to the effort of creating a wrapper around your value that stores it and a flag or similar then you are essentially doing the work that a nullable type will do for you, whilst at the same time making life harder for yourself when it comes to using it. Especially when somebody else comes across it later on and wonders why it exists...
