He crept stealthily to the corner, telling himself that he just wanted to make sure she was okay. Sure, they had seemed to be getting along fine, but there was something about the guy he just didn't trust. Nick wouldn't put it past him to be the kind of guy who'd slip something into her drink to make her come along quietly.
Peering around, he found himself looking down a short corridor. At one end was a plain wooden door with a brass handle. White light leaked out from underneath. It looked a bit strange--not quite the usual fluorescence. Nick didn't have time to ponder it for too long however, for the light had silhouetted a pair of figures, not more than a metre or two from the corner.
