They are, after all, politicians. But I don't think any minority party Republicans would remain quiet about that, and indeed the entire party would raise holy hell about it.

Why? Do I think Republicans are more whiny? Did they learn something from mindlessly going along with Bush on all that post-9/11 crap?

Irrelevant. It's simply that the Democrats suck at being an opposition party. They meekly go along, thinking it's "their duty" or something. The duty of an opposition party is to raise as much hell about whatever legislation you don't like and don't think is good for the country as possible.

Unfortunately, in today's politics, that would get translated as "anything the other party tries to push thru that is blatantly from their platform". But they didn't even do that.
