WTOXE spam? by imWACC02008-10-21 18:52:15
They could just grab all usernames on a forum. by vetitice2008-10-21 19:12:11
Don't know how practical or easy that would be by radiowave911 2008-10-21 19:29:32
most of the scum that harvest addresses doesn't want to be bothered by hard. The bot would have to be custom made for each forum because the user names are not always in the same places or necessarily tagged to make it easy to identify them in the raw HTML code.

The idea of just blasting the webmail services, though isn't all that bad - just use a dictionary and blast every known word at them. Sure, you'll get a high incidence of failure, but you just route all server messages directly to the bit bucket so they don't clog up your precious spamming server (note that I am not calling you, personally, a spammer, I am using you/your/etc. in this case to indicate the real spammers).
