ripping your own legally-purchased CDs is perfectly legal. It's part of "fair use", making backup copies for your own use. There may or may not be a requirement to use ripping software that is legally using the CSS decryption key (if that's what it is; I have never been sure), but that's a minor detail...almost all retail software (and that included with Windows) is legal.
