for some reason related to DRM/Trusted Computing stuff, MS decided that the official MS boot-loader needed to be present to preserve a secure, verified/verifiable "chain of trust", so SP1 would overwrite the boot-sector again.

Or something like that. I never got into it enough to say whether it actually made sense.

There was also this interconnectivity bug that prevented Vista SP1 systems from accepting IPSec connections from Linux systems, though the other direction worked. I've no idea if it's been fixed.
