The RIAA seem to think that you need to pay extra for each copy, the CD, the mp3 for you computer and the mp3 for you ipod means you need to buy it 3 times.

I believe the actual legal situation is that once you have purchased it you may make copies for your own personal use any number of times and in any format you wish. The one condition on that is that making the copy can not involve bypassing any encryption or copy protection technology on the original media.
