I've had, in all the time I've used Vista, had two bluescreens (Beta 2, Vista Ultimate cracked, Vista Home Premium pre-installed), and both were because of faulty drivers (I'm looking at you ATi and RealTek), and my laptop is running quite a lot / hibernates.
To be honest, I don't remember how well Windows NT 4.0 held up in that regard. It's been far, far too long since MS introduced any major changes in the NT line of OSes.
The virtualized registry and folder structure keeps unruly programs in check, too. Nothing can overwrite Windows\System32 with its own drivers, or wreck your registry with ease. Now, it takes some serious effort. :P
However, if you don't tinker with the system to much, it is as stable as anything.
As to 2): As long as you install Vista first, and then Linux, you'll be fine. Same as with any other Windows installation, really. |
