Ordnance question by Eboreg2008-10-21 11:15:13
I brought up gun ownership this past week with my by emlaabs 2008-10-21 11:47:51
family (wife and her mom who lives with us). I mentioned that I had considered purchasing a gun for home defense (they had a robbery in the house before I met my wife so the history is there), but had not done so yet due to money and time. It was in the context of the presidential candidates and their views on gun control (amongst other topics). I was pleased to see that they were not of the "guns are evil" crowd. So the door is now open if/when I decide to make a purchase.

The money due to the fact that 1) I need to make sure it is secure enough since I have young kids, i.e. extra cost for a good safe, firearm(s), training, ammo, etc. and 2) My schedule is too busy already that I would never put in the range time needed to stay proficient and it would be more a liability at that point than an asset in my opinion.

One day, hopefully sooner than later, I will jump into the gun owning ranks, but for now I will continue to read the OC and absorb the great info you guys deliver. Perhaps when my boys are old enough to come with me to the range and I can make it a father/sons bonding activity :)
