Many police departments have switched to 5.56x45mm weapons because of FBI tests that show they do not penetrate as much a Shotguns or Handguns in an urban environment. As such a Ruger Mini-14 (with Factory 20 round magazines) or an AR-15 will work. Both are in use by Departments around the Country. My local Department uses AR-15 Carbines so I do too. Makes it easier in court when you can ask the Officer testifying against you in court what rifle they use on duty and they say the same or a similar gun (and ammunition). This is my personal "Repel All Boarders" gun. The Local PD has expressed an interest in modifying their rifles in a similar manner. $Ka-Ching$ :-D I urge you to either get training in urban rifle or if that is too expensive you can get a good DVD from Gunsite. Also if you haven't already I recommend you get a copy of In The Gravest Extreme, by Massad Ayoob.
