The economy wasn't great as Clinton left office. The economy experienced contraction at that point as well. It did recover quite well from the dot com bust, for a while until we had the real estate bust. At least this time it was about something that really physically existed. The fun part is predicting what the next bust will be about in another 8-10 years. I'm going with gravel at the moment.
