Classic laptop models by oot 2008-10-21 09:06:21
OK... sounds like in reply to my question below, reliability is dependent on model, not brand. Also have been checking out international warranties, and it sounds like they are either a joke or very expensive, or sometimes both.

So my best option might be to buy TWO cheap-ish used laptops of the same model, and let them be each-others' warranties.

So... I call upon the geek collective consciousness... what laptop models past have been Very Reliable? (By "Very Reliable" I mean "high probability it will last for several years without any expensive hardware failing")

Looking for something kinda recent... but it just needs to do "the basics" (web, word processing) so it definitely doesn't need to be the newest coolest toy with the best specs out there.
