And I don't mean to be picking on you, but yes, I *do* want to place my liberties in the hands of the Supreme Court. If we can't trust that the process of selecting justices for SCOTUS has is still adequate after all this time...even in light of the obvious mistakes and rulings that so many people have taken issue with over the years...then we might as well fold the country and sell it on eBay.

I would not likely appreciate the justices that Obama would nominate, but I would also undermine neither the selection process nor the position of the Judiciary branch of the government.

We should *certainly* work to avoid abuses to the process and to make sure that SCOTUS justices are vetted to the point to where we can expect at least a reasonable level of integrity from them. That's part of the process and we should all be involved to make sure our president (whomever it turns out to be) understands that we need a balanced court. It's not a perfect process, but it's the one we have.
