That model is infamous for several things. One of them is flimsy power sockets on the mobo, another is power cords that flex to failure. Replacing the power socket often results in a symptom in which the unit runs fine under wall power, but never charges the battery. I suspect that this is due to mobo layering issues and soldering problems, but as I don't have to deal with Toshibas much, I haven't needed to find out for sure.
So, while it's possible for a bad socket to have the no-charging effect, I can't think of a way that a bad power supply cord could have the same result. |
